We awoke, couldn't shit, shave or shower (remember no running water) so we made an 0600 departure. The next 85 miles (the end of the TOK Cutoff) were tough. Steep, winding, narrow road. We stopped in Glen Ellen for breakfast. Once we got to Palmer Gary thought he saw the last of the mountains, then through Anchorage and down the Kenai Peninsula, more mountains. We stopped at the Surise Inn in Cooper Landing. A good bar and restaurant with lots of 'Chit Chat'. The owner is from Buffalo but has been here 30 years. We are planning to be in Homer around noon time. Gary is really getting into this lifestyle. He may never go Outside again.
